Events are loaded into the core mTicket system by Meshmo staff.
Once loaded, Vodafone customers can simply text the name of
the event to 858 to purchase tickets. The price of the ticket
is added to the customers monthly Vodafone bill, or deducted
from their prepay balance.
For example – in this case BFM radio's promotion for their
discount Bcard, try texting 'BCARD' to 858.
mTickets are sent as a text message, which includes a unique
code, the event name, event date and the number of people allowed
in.
Promoters are given online access to the mTicket Management
Console, which lets them check real-time sales.
The Management Console also manages the redemption process.
A range of redemption technologies is available, ranging from
a simple paper list, to electronic redemption using GPRS and
handheld PDA technology.
Promoters market the mTicket channel through the traditional
channels (radio, advertising, fliers, posters, email) by placing:
“Txt ‘EVENT NAME’ to 858 for an advance ticket
to your mobile.”
Vodafone/Meshmo take the payment from the customer on behalf
of the Promoter. After the event, mTicket issue a Proforma invoice
to the Promoter, followed by a transfer of all owed monies in
relation to the event.

The pricing has been kept as simple as possible:
- No setup or maintenance fees
- Customers pay a booking fee per ticket sold ($1.50-$2.50 depending
on ticket cost)
- Promoters pay an ‘inside fee’ per ticket sold
($1.00-$1.50 depending on ticket cost)
- Every text message sent to the system by a customer is free,
so they solely incur the cost of any mTicket(s) including booking
fee.
